RE: New Deputy Corporation Counsel Position
The Office of the Corporation Counsel respectfully requests the above
matter be waived through the Finance Committee, and proceed for hearing
before the full Council on November 10, 2004.
As you know, our office has embarked upon an effort to address long
neglected matters, such as rule and code revisions throughout the County. The
added burdens placed upon our legal staff necessitate the additional attorney
position to properly perform our legal duties for our County clients.
The urgency of having this position created and filled immediately is
necessitated by various acute legal responsibilities of the County, including
working with our County clients to comply with requirements of the Fair Labor
Standards Act, assisting in the conversion process of large capacity cesspools in
our County, and code and rule revisions affecting not only our County clients but
the public at large.
