Subject: Revisions to Section 18 of the Hawaii County Code
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to amend Section 18 of the Hawaii County Code,
relating to taxi meter rates. Following is a description of the proposed amendments:
Increase in taxi meter rates
The initial "drop" rate would increase from $2.00 to $3.00. Also, the charge per
1/8 mile of travel would increase from 25 cents to 30 cents. Below is a
comparison of travel costs for taxi customers if the proposed changes were
approved.
First mile of travel

Taxi meter rates were last increased in 1997.
