I~SOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION AUTHORISING THE PAYIVIFNT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF AAORE
THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR SIX (6) TRUCK TRACTORS
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring
payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, it is essential for the County of Hawaii to have a minimum of fifteen (15) dependable truck tractors
operating seven (7) days per week islandwide for solid waste operations; and
WHEREAS, the County has three (3) 1996 truck tractors with excessive high mileage, which need to be taken out of
regular service due to maintenance costs which exceed their valuation and the County needs three (3) additional truck
tractors to manage the increased quantities of solid waste and to maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations
governing solid waste management; and
WHEREAS, rental costs to replace the truck tractors while they are under repair could exceed $50,000; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a five (5) year contract to lease with purchase options for six (6) truck
tractors for solid waste operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF FIAWAI`I that the Mayor is
hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease agreement with purchase options for the acquisition of six (6) truck
tractors for solid waste operations and that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated
obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this resolution to the Mayor's Office and the
Departments of Finance and Environmental Management.
