RESOLUTION NO. 279 U4
A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE COUNCIL'S SINCERE GRATITUDE TO
COUNCIL MEMBER J. CURTIS TYLER, III, FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, J. CURTIS TYLER, III has been a Council Member of the
County of Hawaii since 1996, representing Council District 8, North Kona; and
WHEREAS, during these past eight years, Council Member Tyler has
participated on all standing committees and served as Vice Chair of the Council (2000-
2004), Vice Chair of the Planning Committee (1998-2004), and Chair of the Human
Services & Economic Development Committee (1998-2000); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tyler was the County's alternate and delegate to the Ilawaii
State Association of Counties (HSAC) for six years, serving as its Vice President for
two years (2000-2002) and President (2002-2003); and
WHEREAS, Council Member Tyler also has served as an eight-year member of
the National Association of Counties (NACo), having been a Presidential Appointee to
the Board of Directors (2001-2003), Member of the Energy, Environment and Land-
Use Steering Committee (1997-2004), Vice Chair of the Solid & Hazardous Waste
Subcommittee (2000-2001), Chair of the Water Quality Subcommittee (2002-2004),
Vice Chair of the Sustainability Leadership Team (1997-2004), Member, Co-Chair and
Chair of the Watershed Management Advisory Committee (1997-2004), and Member
of the Smart Growth Committee (1998-2003); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tyler has consistently and unwaveringly demonstrated his
personal dedication, leadership, integrity, commitment to excellence, and outstanding
public service to his constituents and to the general public throughout the County of
Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tyler will complete his fourth consecutive term of office at
Noon on December 6, 2004, compiling an exemplary attendance and voting record,
having never missed a council meeting or vote, for all council meetings held during his
eight years in office.
NOW, TIIEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED BY TIIE COUNCIL OF TIIE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it hereby extends its sincere gratitude to Council
Member J. Curtis Tyler, III for his many years of service, and offers its best wishes for
his continued health, success and prosperity.
~E IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a true copy of this resolution to Council Member J. Curtis Tyler, III.
