Prom Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council Executive Director
George Yokoyama, dated September 27, 2004, requesting the convening of a hearing
on the above human services need. States he will be terminating the employment of
six (6) drivers effective September 30, 2004, due to unexpected rise in gasoline price
and vehicle repairs, drastic reduction in Medicaid reimbursements, and the high cost
of health insurance premiums for employees.
Comm. 792.1: From Yoshito Takamine, President, Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA. Big
Island), supporting the efforts of George Yokoyama to serve the transportation needs
of senior citizens.

COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN
From Mayor Harry Kim, dated October l 1, 2004, informing that he has appointed
Ms. Margaret Masunaga of Council District 7 to the Committee on the Status of
Women. Ms. Masunaga is currently a Deputy Corporation Counsel with the County
of Hawai'i's Office of the Corporation Counsel. A member of the Democratic party.
if confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 3 L 2007, replacing
Ms. Cindy Hara, whose term expired on December 31.2003.
