RE: Renewal of Contract for Light Post Production Company
We would like to request that Contract No. 96199, which provides for the professional
services of Mr. George Andrews Downing in the videotaping of Council proceedings, be
reinstated. Mr. Downing's contract was suspended due to the recent Supreme Court
privatization ruling.
Currently the Hawaii County Council is facing a critical time of decision making and the
public deserves the opportunity to view these meetings, thus, better understanding the
complexity of certain issues. Also, many citizens anxiously await the showing of our
meetings, especially those who are unable to attend the various sessions.
We ask that this communication be agendized for the June 18, 1997, Council meeting. The
approval of this request would allow for the videotaping of significant forthcoming meetings.
