Dear Mr. Chung:
This will acknowledge receipt of your August 1, 1997 letter re: Investigation
Relating to Fire Departmental Promotional Examination.
As you requested, I will, once completed, furnish the Finance Committee with
our findings of our investigation into the incident surrounding the interview
conducted by the Fire Department on May 12, 1997. At this time, however, I
have yet to receive the results of the investigation.
For clarification purposes, please be advised that the Civil Service Commission is
not conducting this investigation. To clarify a second matter, our investigation is
limited to the interview which took place on May 12, 1997 and not the
promotional examination which is administered by our department. No
allegations of irregularities were made with respect to our promotional
examination.
