Re: RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR AND THE
LEGISLATURE TO CONVENE A SPECIAL SESSION TO
RESOLVE THb PRIVATi7AT10N ISSUE
The Salvation Army -Hilo/Kong Interim Home is in support of Resolution No. 104-
97, Requesting the Governor and the Legislature to convene a special session to
resolve the privatization issue.
The Sah~ation Army -Hilo/Kong Interim Home provides outreach, cotmseling,
shelter and intake/assessment services to youth in the community, a service that has
been provided b}~ our agency in Hilo for the last ] 8-years from fiords received
through the County grant-in-aid. The Salvation Arn~y - Hilo/Kona Interim Home
provides services to the community which has not been provided tlu•ough any
governlrlent (County or State) departmendagency in Hawaii Couuty_
We humbly ask passage of Resolution 104-97 and continue to support the Hawaii
County Council in resolving the privatization issue ,x~ith the Legis]ature and the
Governor.
