I am writing to you on behalf of Recycle Hawaii in support of your

secretary Resolution 104-97, requesting a special session of the Legislature to resolve the
privatization issue.
Recycle Hawaii is one of the many contractors under suspension as a
Anyla eaeEr result of the Administration's interpretation of the situation. Recycling services
are being cut, rural collections arc closing down and soon businesses will be
JErry oanles paying a lot more for recycling -ail due to the halt in diversion grants (sec
enclosure). The business community and residents are suffering, and we have
cane""e """9°" been told that we will not get paid for services that we performed in past months.
Pew aLEary This situation is out of control and needy dealing with here in Hawaii
County and at the state Legislature. We encourage you to reinstate the diversion
