Submits pertinent communications on the matter. Comm. 655: PROPOSED SUBCOMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURAL LAND USE STANDARDS From Councilmember Keola Childs, dated August 14, 1995, supporting Planning Committee Chair Takashi Domingo's suggestion that a subcommittee be formed to study and provide direction on agricultural zoning and related land use matters, particularly including the policy issues raised in pending Bill 683, Draft 2, and Bill 96. Further, accepts the offer to chair the subcommittee, with the understanding that the mission or purpose of the subcommittee would be to explore and report on the stated matters in the next several months, after which it would be dissolved. The landowner is Hester K. Machado and the business owner is James Caulkins. Comm. 237.06: Copy of letter to Deputy Planning Director Norman Olesen from Gordon K. Leslie, Napoopoo, Keei & Honaunau Community Association, dated March 30, 1995, requesting an investigation be made on TMK 8-2-OS-27 where Jimbo's Kayak Rentals is conducting business. Comm. 237.07: Copy of letter to Planning Director Virginia Goldstein from Gordon Leslie of the Napoopoo, Honaunau & Keei Community Association, dated July 14, 1995, regarding the kayak rental operation on TMK 8-2-05:27. The property is owned by Hester Machado and is presently leased by James Caulkins. States if the kayak rental operation continues after the August 5, 1995 grace period, they will be staging a protest at Napoopoo intersection and pier with members of the association and residents, including all media. Further, that the need to file a class action suit against the government agencies responsible for not enforcing Rule No. 9 will be an option. Comm. 587: RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE EXTENSION OF THE (Res. 154) HAWAIIAN ISLANDS HUMPBACK WHALE NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY TO WATERS AROUND HAWAII COUNTY From Councilmember Keola Childs, dated July 17, 1995, transmitting the above resolution requesting Governor Benjamin Cayetano to exercise his option to remove the waters surrounding Hawaii County from the proposed sanctuary boundaries and urging him to remove all State waters from the sanctuary.
