Dear Chairman Safarik and Members:
It is my pleasure to submit for your confirmation the reappointment of Barbara Bcll as County
of Hawaii Director of Environmental Management pursuant to the Charter of the County of
Hawaii. This reappointment was effective at noon on December 6, 2004.
Since 2002, Ms. Bell has served as the Director of Environmental Management for the County
of Hawaii. Prior to then, she was employed as the executive director of Recycle Hawaii, a
non-profit educational organization. In addition, she served as the co-chair, along with Riley
Smith, of the County's Environmental Management Commission. She also served in 1995-96
as the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii.
Ms. Bell will serve a term co-terminus with my tenure, which will end on December I , 2008.
