RF: Housecleaning Items Pending in Finance Committee
For housecleaning purposes. I recommend closing file on the following previous term bills which have
been deferred in Finance Committee and have since become outdated or obsolete or have died, for reasons
stated:
Bill 143 (Comm. 684) (1995): Relates to sewer connection assistance. This bill was initiated by
Councilman E:Iroy Osorio. Discussion ensued, and a Subcommittee was held on the topic, but no
action was taken on the bill.
Bill 146 (Conan. 696) (1995): This bill is similar to above bill 143, but initiated by Councilman
Brian Dc Lima. Action was never taken.
Bill 261 (Comm. 1138) (1996): This bill was initiated by Councilman Jim Rath. 'this bill is
obsolete because a Charter amendment to establish a Fire Commission was voted in by the
electorate in the election of 2002.
Bill 98 (Comm. 343) (1997): Proposes to shut off water services to enforce payment of sewer
bills. This bill was deferred for further research, information and drafting in 1997.
Res. 299-98 (Comm. 930): Regarding a public auction for county-owned land for temporary
occupancy for Mobile One, Inc., to reconstruct, operate and maintain a transmitter building and
antenna to serve the interests of the County. This item was discussed, approved, and never moved
forward in 1998.
Bill 63 (Comm. 234): Regarding a new fare rate for the Hele-On Rus System. This bill was
deferred pending formulation of a new draft, in 1999 (no draft was submitted).
Comm. 335: Relates to real time captioning. The Council has implemented delayed captioning as
an alternative, since 1999.
Bill 256 (Comm. 774): Relates to making the property owner responsible for sewer user charges.
'this item was deferred for further research and drafting in Year 3000.
These are items that have been on the pending list for several elective terms and have not resurfaced.
-therefore, the withdrawal is deemed appropriate.
