Re: Donation to the Police Department
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $1,000 from Wal-Mart Hilo,
325 E. Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720. These funds, donated as part of Wal-Mart
Hilo's community involvement program, will be used in the Department's Neighborhood
Watch Program.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
the $1,000 monetary donation into the Police Administrative Division's OCE account.

To accept a donation of $1,000 from Walmart for the Neighborhood Watch Program account
number 010-201-5203.02-225.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Walmart is donating funds to be used for the Neighborhood Watch Program. The donated amount totals
$1000.00.

Dear Chief Mahuna,
On October 15, 2004 Wal'Mart Hilo distributed grant funds to various non-profit organizations
that fell under our "Safe Neighborhood Heroes" program.
These funds were to be given to organizations that provided a safe environment to our
community. Without a doubt our police department has an is continously working to safeguard
our neighborhoods.
A grant check for $1000.00 was accepted by Officer Rodney for our police department to
ensure continous teaching on safety and also educational programs.
