Re: Confirmation of Lincoln S.T. Ashida as Corporation Counsel
Geraldine N. Hasegawa and Randal Q. Lockett strongly support the confirmation of
Lincoln S. T. Ashida as Corporation Counsel of the County of Hawaii. For the past 4 years, we
have been employed as deputies corporation counsel under Lincoln Ashida.
Lincoln Ashida has strong leadership and management skills. He has worked with the
supervisory staff to develop goals and objectives for the division and has devoted time to ensure
that the staff is educated and supportive of the goals and objectives of the office. Further,
Lincoln has encouraged and continues to support training of the entire staff. At his weekly
meetings, he provides the deputies an opportunity to discuss and comment on pending projects.
Most important of all, he is supportive of the staff on all levels. He makes the staff feel proud to
be part of his team.
Lincoln has created a very effective litigation team. The litigators have saved the
taxpayers of the County of Hawaii thousands of dollars by prevailing in civil actions against the
county.
We respectfully request that you confirm Lincoln S.T. Ashida as Corporation Counsel for
the County of Hawaii for the next four years.
