RE: In Support of Resolution 11 to Appoint David Frankel as Legislative Auditor

This letter is in support of Resolution 11 to appoint David Frankel as the Legislative Auditor for the
County of Hawaii.
When I was the State Representative for North Kona and South Kohala from 1994-1998, I had
many interactions with David Frankel. Since then, I have tracked his work with Legal Aid, and his
community service as a Board member of the Volcano Community Association and Volcano Charter
School, and a member of the County's Environmental Management Committee and the
Department of Health Environmental Management Advisory Group.
In all of this work, Mr. Franke! showed himself to be a very competent attorney, policy analyst, and
technical researcher, an effective organizer, and a tireless advocate for the environment and the
community.
I am confident he will put these skills to good use as the Legislative Auditor and serve the County
well.
