2e: Confirmation of Lincoln S.T. Ashida as Corporation Counsel
Dear Chairman Safarik and Members of the County Council
I strongly urge the County Council to confirm Lincoln S.T. Ashida as Corporation
Counsel Ile has been, and will continue to be, an effective administrator, sensible advisor,
and personable leader.
I've known Lincoln since I became a Hawaii County deputy prosecutor in 1992. During
the last years of his tenure at the Prosecutor's Office, he was my supervisor in the Violence
Against Children unit He was supportive and encouraging of his professional peers. Leading
by example, he insisted on work being done conscientiously, thoughtfully, and fairly. Even
then, he demonstrated his strong commitment to work for, and to positively impact, the lives
of the people in our island community.
Since I became a deputy corporation counsel in January 2004, 1 have been impressed
with Lincoln's leadership skills. Lincoln is always supportive and encouraging. Who doesn't
appreciate an encouraging word ou a regular basis? He makes a conscious effort to keep up
the morale of his staff by keeping everyone informed, giving timely input and feedback, and
treating everyone fairly and respectfully. Lincoln continues to lead by example; he works
very hard, and constantly encourages us to do great work and to treat others with respect. His
emphasis on cooperation and teamwork has molded this office into a cohesive team, working
to do right for the people of our island community.
