RESOLUTION NO. 27 X14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT
FROM THE STATE OF HAWAII FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, during the past few years, the Hawaii County Police Department has been
participating in the Green Box Pilot Project; and
WHEREAS, this project was started to develop a paperless booking system by providing for
the single-entry of demographic criminal history information, for the electronic capture of fingerprints
and digitized mug photos, and for the automatic transmission of this information to the State's
booking server, from which other systems may retrieve the information; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center, a division of the State of Hawaii
Attorney General's Office, had procured the computer software and hardware for the Green Box Pilot
Project and now wishes to transfer its ownership to the County; and
WHEREAS, the computer equipment, which includes 2 sets of computers, cameras,
uninterruptible power supplies and accessories, has an estimated total value of $171,000 and are
located in the Puna and South Kohala police stations; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department recommends the acceptance of this
equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts the equipment.
