Re: Resolution for multi-year leases
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year
for three (3) copiers for the Hawaii County Police Department. The leases on their
three (3) copiers currently in use have expired. Obtaining leases on more technically
advanced copiers will increase staff productivity via faster copying and forms printing.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii County Police
Department.

A. REQUEST:
To enter into amulti-year lease agreement for five (5) years for three (3) copy machines in the following
locations: Public Safety Building Machine Room, Public Safety Building Records and Kona Patrol.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The lease on the copiers currently in use has expired. The present machines are constantly being repaired
which causes many non-operational periods. The Police Department would like to obtain new leases for
copiers for the three locations. The lease of more technically advanced copiersis critical to the operation of
the Police Department. The current copier technology has more features and options that will allow the staff
to increase their productivitiy. With the upcoming Records Management System, many forms manually done
will be computerized. The copiers added feature as a printer will assist the department in printing these
forms. This expanded capability will allow the Department to keep up with the increasing demands.
