Dear Council Members:
This is a letter of support for Council approval of the General Plan.
Pass it, give our Hawaii County amuch-needed road map to the future, and
within the framework of the Plan, continue your activities on the many
items needing attention.
I have read the Plan, and find the provisions a reasonable guide. In
particular, the protection of agricultural lands should help ensure this
component of our Island economy and culture can prosper.
Is everyone going to be satisfied with every provision in the Plan? Of
course not. However, the Council could take a century in hearings,
meetings, and discussions and every interest group, every person still
would want changes.
In my view, enough time has been given for voices to be heard, and unlike
the previous Council which seemed unable or unwilling to hear, I believe
this Council does listen...and what we are saying is "Approve the Plan
NOW"
