What a wonderful start all of you have accomplished with a winning reception and now promises to finally approve the
general plan.
I urge you to approve Bill 163, Drive 1 on January 4. Until we can move on to the regional plans, little will be accomplished
by way on citizen input. Perhaps you can insert a phrase in the introduction eluding to smart development, but we must
remember that the General Plan is just that--a template on which to build regional plans supported by ordinance.
This can truly be a new year if we move toward providing the kind of infrastructure that will protect the aloha of Hawaii
Island and the cultural remains of the Hawaiians.
