HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0042.021 2004-2006 To: The County Council, - Attn: Gary Safarik January 4, 2005 ..=s My husband and I attended the meeting last night for people to give testimonies. We did not participate at the time. _ ~ Now, having had some time to review the General Plan # 2, I have some questions. Part 4. District Vision Statement Section 1, Puna District Vision Statement I question the paragraph referring to "low density" rural and agricultural uses dominate the landscape between existing communities. With all the traffic that comes from the various sub divisions onto highway #130,1 would think "high density" would be more appropriate. The paragraph "State highway #130 which serves residents of Puna Maka and Pun Makai is widened to tour lanes from the Keaau Bypass to Hawaiian Paradise Park. This reads as if it has already been accomplished and not planned. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN WIDENF,D IN THIS AREA TO FOl1R LANES. Should it not read, "State Highway 130 which serves residents of Puna Mauka and Puna Makai is planned to be widened to four lanes The pazagraph "A new State highway between Puna and Hilo IS CONS'I'RUC"fED'fO PROVIDE;. Here again The word " IS" indicates this has already been constructed.. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN DONE. Should it not read, A new State highway between Puna and Hilo is planned to be constructed to provide an alternate route for the safety of the residents of Puna Mauka and Puna Makai. Question: "Why is the County Pazk at the end of Kaloli Point in Pazadise Pazk not included in the plan??`?'?'? Location is between Paradise Drive and Makuu on Beach Rd. I talked to a lady at the office in Paradise Park. She said she had called the County to ask that the park he cleaned up. Whoever answered said "I didn't know there was a park there" Even if there is no plan to improve it , or maintain it, it should at least be noted in the General Plan that it is located there. Are there other parks that are not included? Comm. No. ,Z Ref. To: L Ref. Uate I can only with many limitations appreciate what an immense job this must be for all of you. I thank all of the members who are working on this. Adopt one of these plans and lets have something in place that can give everyone a guide. Of course plans may change in the future, but if need be, amendments can be made to reflect any needed change in the plan. Thank you for allowing this feedback..
