Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 19, reports as follows:
Communication No. 19, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 7, 2004, reappoints
Mr. Clayton K. Yugawa as County of Hawaii Director of Data Systems.
Since June of 2002, Mr. Yugawa has served as the County's Director of Data Systems. Prior to
then, he was employed by Verizon Hawaii Inc., formerly GTE Hawaiian Tel. He had extensive
experience with telecommunication networks and computers during his tenure at Verizon/GTF„
as well as management responsibility. As Director of Data Systems, he will serve a term to end
December 1, 2008.
Pursuant to Article VI, Section 6-9.2, Hawaii County Charter, "The director of data systems
shall be appointed by the mayor, confirn~ed by the council and may be removed by the mayor."
Your Committee heard testimony in favor to this confirmation from Mayor Harry Kim.
Members of Your Committee were in support of the confirmation of Mr. Yugawa.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. Clayton K. Yugawa as County
of Hawaii Director of Data Systems.
