Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 23-04, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 23-04, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 12 by Director of Finance William
Takaba, via Communication No. 34, dated December 6, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of a
donation from the Wal-Mart Hilo.
The Wal-Mart Hilo has graciously donated $1,000 to the Hawaii County Police Department as
part of their community involvement program, which will be used in the Department's
Neighborhood Watch Program.
Pursuant to Article XI[l, Section ] 3-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other personal property or of real
estate or any interest in real estate.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Glenn Schneider, Manager, Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E.
Maka`ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee did not entertain further discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 23-04
and recommends its adoption.
