Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred
Communication No. 16, reports as follows:
Communication No. 16, dated December 7, 2004, is from Mayor Harry Kim submitting the
reappointment of Mr. Bruce C. McClure to serve as the County of Hawaii Director of Public
Works.
According to Communication No. 16, Mr. McClure has served as the Director of Public Works
from December 2002 to the present. He was also employed by the Department of Water Supply of
the County of Hawaii from 1998-2002. From 1984 to 1990, he served as the Deputy Chief
Engineer for the County of Hawaii, and from 1990 to 1993, was the County's Chief Engineer. He
has also worked for the Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii. If contirmed, he will
serve a term co-terminus with the Mayor, which will end on December 1, 2008.
At today's meeting, Mayor Harry Kim and several Councilmembers commended Mr. McClure's
willingness to serve, and spoke in favor of his nomination.
Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations recommends the approval of
the reappointment of Mr. E3ruce C. McClure as Hawaii County's Director of Public Works for a
term ending December 1, 2008.
