Re: Donation to the Hawaii County Fire Department
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $200 from Mr. Jeffrey A. Griffin,
85244 Ridgetop Road, Eugene, Oregon 97405. Mr. Griffin, an official of the Western Fire
Chiefs Association, is donating these monies so they can be used towards the Hawaii
County Fire Department's safety incentive award program.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
the $200 monetary donation into the Fire Department's Fire Protection - OCE account.

Prepare a resolution authorizing the acceptance of a gift of $200 from Mr. Jeffrey A. Griffin of Eugene, Oregon.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Mr. Jeffrey A. Griffin, an official of the Western Fire Chiefs Association, was a speaker at the recent
Hawaii Fire Chiefs Association Convention held on Maui in November 2004. His presentation focused on
the importance of promoting and maintaining focus on a safe working environment. This presentation was
met with much praise and enthusiasm. He presented a personal check of $200 to the Hawaii County Fire
Department as a basis for a safety incentive award program for the department.
