991l~°IERE.~S, Mr. Jeffrey A. Griffin, an official of the Western Fire Chiefs Association, was a speaker at
the recent Hawaii Fire Chiefs Association Convention and his presentation focused on the importance of
promoting and maintaining focus on a safe working environment; and
WIf~EREeAS, his donation of $200 to the Hawaii County Fire Department will be used towards the
department's safety incentive award program; and
IPVHEI~EAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
IOVHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
