Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 43, reports as follows:
Communication No. 43, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
December 13, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of donations from the Machado Acres
Association.
The Machado Acres Association has graciously donated $3,030.44 to the Department of Parks &
Recreation, For use in the development of the Machado Acres Park.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), of the Hawaii County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Machado Acres Association, Mr. Delmar Kleckner,
President, 316 Ka Manelo Place, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $3,030.44 donation from the
Machado Acres Association.
