Subject: Upcoming Council Meeting Animal Control Ordinance
Animal Control Ordinance
We support the new Animal Control Ordinance and are especially glad to see
the increases in fines and the large increase in licensing fees for
unsterilized dogs.
We would, of course, like to see more on what constitutes cruelty to
animals, such as deprivation of food, water, shelter and/or medical care;
unclean environment; signs of physical abuse and the like. We know this
ordinance focuses on public safety, but would like to see some additional
focus on the health and well-being of the companion animals and livestock
(including poultry), as well as the abandoned cat colonies, in this county.
Thank you.
