Dear Ms. Kiyosaki:
Subject: Jose Business Trust Sign Variance Request
On behalf of the Jose Business Trust, attorney Mark Van Pernis has requested a variance from
the provisions of chapter 3, Hawaii County Code, to permit the continuing existence of 12 flags
or banners at International Motors in Kona.
This request has been referred to the Public Works and Parks Committee.
A copy of their request is attached for your review. For the benefit of the Members of the
Council, please provide us with the Department of Public Works' recommendations and
comments on this request.
In particular, we would appreciate your identification of all of the provisions of chapter 3 for
which this applicant will require a variance and your recommendations as to whether these
variances should be granted by the Council. Any additional comments regarding this request
would also be greatly appreciated.
As the applicant is awaiting Council action on this matter, your response by August 1, 1997
would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please contact committee staff person,
