YOSHINA PEARL CITY, HAWAII 96782 CHIEF ELECTION OFFICER January 24, 2005 ~e~Elvc-t~ 61me.--- - - 1!-~ - ~ - pote____ ~f~?.lelb~-- County Coundl The Honorable Gary Safarik Hawaii County Counci, District 5 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Dear Councilmember Safarik: As part of the stand-down activities after each election, the Office of Elections reviews polling places and precinct boundaries to determine whether or not polling place sites are convenient and accessible to voters. More specifically, we are interested to learn if: (1) The location is convenient and accessible to the majority of voters in that precinct. (2) The facility is the proper size for the number of registered voters served in the polling place. (3) The facility meets minimum physical standards; i.e., adequate lighting, parking, storage, ventilation and separate entrance/exit. (4) Any physical feature around the facility and its appurtenances that impede the access of the voter to the polling place. To assist us in this review, we request your thoughts and comments concerning polling place sites and precinct boundaries in your area. We would appreciate a response from you, in writing, by February 15, 2005. If you believe sites to be inadequate, we would appreciate any suggestions you may have regarding alternate sites for that polling place. Comra. No.~__~.r, Ref. To: Ref.
