Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 68, reports as follows:
Communication No. 68. transmitted by Legislative Auditor Uavid Kimo Frankel, dated
January 10. 2005, authorizes the acceptance of the donation from Ms. Virginia Isbell.
Ms. Virginia Isbell has graciously donated $7,000 to the Hawaii County Council to subsidize
the cost of the Kona reception, which was held on December 21, ?004.
Pursuant to Artidc XIII, Section 13-12 ofthe Wawai'i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of
the County. may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Chapter 2. Article 30. Section 2-162(c) of the }{awai`i County Code, provides that any donation
or gift which does not fall within the capitalisation procedures of the Department of Finance
shall he submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Virginia Isbell at P.O. Box 926. Kealakekua, I lawai'i
96750, acknowledging this generous donation.
Council Chair Gary Sathrik expressed thanks for this generous donation and explained that with
this donation, the County spent only $2,100 for the Kona reception, less than that which was
spent on the Hilo reception.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $7.000 donation from
Ms. Virginia Isbell.
