Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 32-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 32-05, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 22 by Finance Director William Takaba,
via Communication No. 69, dated January 7, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary
donation from Mr. Jeffrey A. Griffin.
Mr. Jeffrey A. Griffin, an official of the Western Fire Chiefs Association, was a speaker at the
recent Hawaii Fire Chiefs Association Convention, and his presentation focused on the
importance of promoting and maintaining focus on a safe working environment.
Mr. Griffin has graciously donated $200 to the Hawaii County Fire Department to be used for
the department's Safety [ncentive Award Program.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-]2 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of
the County, may accept gifrs or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Mr..Teffrey A. Griffin at 85244 Ridgetop Road,
Eugene, Oregon 97405, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 32-OS
and recommends its adoption.
