Subject: Hanama Place Lease Amendment
The County of Hawaii leases 10,100 sq. ft. of office space at the Hanama Place Office Building
in Kailua-Kona for various departments. Although our lease expires on June 30, 2005, we have
the option to extend the lease.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into amulti-year extension agreement
with K. Taniguchi, Ltd. for the Hanama Place Office Building. The proposed new lease will
require the County to pay $278,133.44 per year, or $2.29 per sq. ft. per month, which includes
the cost of common azea maintenance. The new rent represents a 3% increase over what we are
now paying.
The County will reserve the right to terminate this lease by giving the landlord six months
written notice once construction of a new County facility begins in Kona.
