ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE NAMING A COUNTY RECREATIONAL FACILITY (TMK: (3) 1-5-63:01)
PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 15, HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION).
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
to designate the name "Kahakai Park" for that certain County recreational facility, identified by Tax
Map Key: (3) 1-5-63:01
SECTION 1. Findings and purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is, pursuant to Chapter 15,
Hawaii County Code, which establishes guidelines for naming of such facilities. Section 15-
67(a)(2)(A), HCC, provides that any "open area" County facility shall, inter alia, be named for its
neighborhood, community, region, district or other identifying geographical location. The subject
parcel is an open area park located in the Hawaiian Beaches area of Puna. The site is located at the
end of Kahakai Boulevard. The name "Kahakai Park" also refers to the seashore or seacoast, which
the site overlooks and is fronted by.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, that certain open area County
park identified by TMK (3) 1-5-63:01 is hereby named "Kahakai Park."
SECTION 3. In the event that any portion of this ordinance is declared invalid, such invalidity
shall not affect the other parts of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
