A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF
COMMUNITY MEMBERS APPOINTED TO THE POLICE FLEET
IMPLEMENTATION WORKING GROUP
WHEREAS, the Ilawai`i County Council adopted Resolution 224-04, Draft 3 on
September 09, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 224-04 set up a Police Fleet Implementation Working
Group comprised of the Hawaii County Police Department, the State of Hawaii
Organization of Police Officers. Finance Department Purchasing Section, Department of
Public Works-Automotive Services Division, a member of the Hawaii County Police
Commission, and three appointed community members, one of whom is appointed by the
Mayor, and the other two by the County Council, respectively; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council now feels the need to increase the
number of community members appointed to the Police Fleet Implementation Working
Group.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE [T RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Council requests that the number of community
members appointed to Police Fleet Implementation Working Group be increased to
include one ex officio member to be selected by the Council Chairperson.
BE [T FURTHER RESOLVED that, upon adoption, the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to Mayor Harry Kim, Police Chief
Lawrence Mahuna, Finance Director William Takaba, Police Commission Chair John M.
Bertsch, State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers, Hawaii Island Chapter
Chairman Emory Springer, Department of Public Works Director Bruce McClure,
DPW-Automotive Services Division Head Randall Riley, Corporation Counsel Lincoln
Ashida, Civil Service Director Michael Ben, and Police Fleet Implementation Working
Group Chairman Dwayne Miyashiro.
