Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 43-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 43-05, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 97, dated February 3, 2005, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of
more than one fiscal year for amulti-year lease for two copiers.
"The office of the prosecuting attorney's Kona and Waimea offices wishes to enter into afive-
year lease contract for two copiers. Funds would be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated costs.
The Kona office is in need of a second copier, as it would greatly improve workflow and
efficiency. The Waimea office currently does not have one and must use the police department's
copier located in a building across the street.
Pursuant to Section 10-1 1, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
Some members of Your Committee requested a copy of the estimated cost of the copiers.
Information is needed prior to the next Council meeting.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 43-OS
and recommends its adoption.
