RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR OR OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR AMULTI-YEAR LEASE OF
REAL PROPERTY
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease, or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation's Kona Elderly Activities Office presently
occupies 4,000 square feet of office space located at 85-951 Haleki'i Street, Kealakekua, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the current lease, that ends on June 30, 2005, has an option to renew the term of
the lease for an additional four (4) years; and
WHEREAS, renewing the term of the lease will allow the Kona Elderly Activities Office to
continue to stay at its current location for a cost of $4,000 a month; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into amulti-year lease with Mr. David Basque, for an
additional four (4) years, commencing on July 1, 2005.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor i~ hereby authorized to enter into amulti-year lease agreement for office
space for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations
of the County under the lease agreement.
