The current lease that ends on June 30, 2005, has an option to renew the term of the lease, which will allow the Kona Elderly Activities Ottice to continue at the current location in the 4,000 square foot space Ibr the cost of $4,000 a month. Comm. 143: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCF. NO. 04-75, AS AMF,NDED, (Bill 47) RELATING TO PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING "THEREOF FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2004 TO .IIJNE 30, 2005 (adds the Waikoloa -Hooka Street Park project for $200,000) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated March 2, 2005. transmitting the above bill. This project brings additional funds to this previously appropriated project, which are required to enable power to be supplied to the park to provide both functional and security lighting for the new pavilion, restrooms and parking lot that were in the original contracted scope of work. Installation of this effluent reuse line will be installed frrnn the Honokohau Harbor to Henry Street in conjunction with the State of I lawai'i Department of Transportation's Queen Ka`ahumanu Widening Project. This is in conformance with the County of Hawai`i's Effluent Reuse Master Plan to provide effluent reuse water to areas in the vicinity of the Kealakehe Wastewater "treatment Plant. FG7 Page 3 March 15, 2005 Comm. 146: RESOLUTION CREATING AN ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING TECHNICIAN 1 (Res. 58-OS) POSITION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREA"PION From Finance Director William Takaba, dated March 2, 2005, transmitting the above resolution. The need for drafting services for the Department of Parks and Recreation has grown tremendously due to the continued aging and deterioration of its sites and facilities. "fhe Department of Public Works performed this service in the past. but recently has not been able to provide assistance. On February 28, 2005, the Committee on Finance recommended passage of Bill 40, as amended to Draft 3, which includes the appropriation of funds for this position. Comm. 147: RESOLUTION OF REALLOCATING AND CHANGING "FHE "TIME ELEMEN"f (Res. 59-OS) OF A RECREATION TECHNICIAN II (3/4T) POSITION TO RECREA"PION TECHNICIAN III FULL TIME (position will be for the Kailua Park Complex) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated March 2, 2005, transmitting the about resolution. Presently, there is no weekend coverage at this district's only County gymnasium. By reallocating and increasing the time element of this position, more recreational activities can be offered during the evenings and on weekends. Comm. 148: AN ORDINANCE. TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 04-74, AS AMENDED, fHI? (Bill 50) OPERATWG BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR T}IE FISCAL. YEAR ENDING ,TUNE 30, 2005 (appropriates $12,500 to the North and South Kohala Road -Other Current Expenses account within the Hi~hway Fund) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated March 3, 2005, transmitting the above bill. At the February 28, 2005 Committee on Finance meeting, Bill 40. which appropriated the General Fund's Fund Balance, was amended to Draft 3 to include $12.500 for the Hooka Road Sidewalk Improvement in Waikoloa. The Hawaii County Fire Department has been awarded a $301,000 Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Oftice for Domestic Preparedness' FY 04 Assistance to Firefighters program. "the Fedcral's share along with the County's share of $129,000. which will be provided through funds from untitled positions, will be used to purchase a Mobile Livc Fire "training Unit. This unit, commonly referred to as a "burn trailer," will be utilized in basic firefighter training for both department personnel and volunteer 1irclightcrs.
