Communication No. 5.5, regarding Resolution No. 52-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 52-05, relating to the Mayor's police fleet implementation working group.
transmitted by Public Safety and Parks and Recreation Committee Chairperson Stacy K. f Iiga.
via Communication No. 5.5, dated February 16. 2005. requests an increase in the number of
community members appointed to the Mayor's police Fleet implementation working group.
Originally sanctioned by Resolution 224-04, Draft 3, the Mayor's Police Fleel Implementation
Working Group is comprised of representatives from the Hawaii County Police Department. the
State of I lawai'i Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO), Finance Department-Purchasing
Section, Department of Public Works-Automotive Services Division; a member of the Hawaii
County Police Commission; and three appointed community members_ one appointed by the
Mayor, and two by the County Council.
Your Committee believes that there is a need to increase the number of community members
appointed to the police fleet implementation working group. Your Committee recommends that
the Council Chair be allowed to select one ex officio member to be appointed to the group.
raising the number of community members from three to four.
Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Resolution No. 52-05, and recommends its adoption.
