Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 110, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1 10, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
February 9, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of donations from the Blue Tropix Restaurant and
Nightclub.
fhe Blue Tropix Restaurant and Nightclub has graciously donated three squirrel monkeys to the
department of parks & recreation to enhance the primate collection for public view at the
Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo. The value of these donations is estimated at $7,000.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30. Section 2-162(c), of the Hawaii County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
linance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. llarren "fsuchiya, Owner, Blue Tropix Restaurant and
Nightclub, 1700 Kapi`olani Blvd., Ilonolulu, EIawai`i 96814, acknowledging this generous
donation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the three squirrel monkeys from the
Bluc'['ropix Restaurant and Nightclub.
