Queen K. Highway. While afoordable housing 1r surely needed is Kona, tbis development
will add another 700 care minimum to the Qatea Kaahumanu Highway daring morning
and attorooon rush hour.

I am also a pnbOc school teacher at Kealakehe Intermediate and wonder how I cad the
children in my Komohana/ KUohaoe cad Suaset neighborhoods wiU be able to get to school
on•tlme in the morning. Already the drive that took IS mia. (from Lako Street) before
Pnalanl wa built, now hkra 30 min. on a good day and fhb b stlU without all unlb In
Paalanl yet to bo built or occupied. In reading the Informatloo presented by dsvolopsr
Bdaa Cook to a ncwt (3/1/05) article in W.HawaU Today, the coanectlng roads that Mr.
Cook spoke of may help, however still moat of the can will go onto the Queen K. and clog
trafic rap further.
As a public school lechers[ Kealakehe Intermediate, a school with 1100 students this
year and mazed out to capacity, I wonder when baildtng new sehools will bo considered
by our State to aceommodate the new hmlUes with children that will Itve In aU the new
developmenb planned for South Kona.
I support Councilman Jacobeon'e propoeel to regain all developers to Inform about tLture
developmenb through pubtle signage. The public never can see the big picture
otdevelopen regaestlng approval cad what's already approved uatll groundbroaking has
started and it's too late [or us to comment.
I support ianovathe means of creating affordable housing, however without adequate
infrestructore, as is our current situation, developmen4 each a. these compound our
rnmmuofty's problems with overloaded roads, sewsge/water systems and crowded schools.
Many of us in West Hawaii voted for our Nawaii County Council repreaeotatlves and
our Mayor based on trusting that they would support concurrency and make wise
deciaioas about future development.
