An annual allocation in the Hawaii county budget for appropriate land protection and conservation purposes is vital as the protection of prime coastal areas and mauka access is a critical component of our quality of life. The mayor's budget currently submitted to Council currently does not include any funding for land purchase and protection; money needs to be allocated in this year's county budget. A land protection fund should be reconsidered by the Council and established this year. We strongly urge your support for the inclusion of land protection funding in the FY 2005-2006 capital budget and reconsideration of and passage of last year's Bill 270. Thank you, Myra S.
