Subject: I Oppose "Green Harvest"
Dear Council,
am writing this after reading "Budget Concerns Voiced" in Tuesdays West
Hawaii Today. I urge the council to oppose funding for marijuana eradication, i_~
specifically the "Green Harvest" helicopter operations, even though it means
rejecting the entire budget. I have witnessed "Green Harvest" helicopters flying
below the no-fly zone and find them to be in gross violation of my civil rights. I _
live in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, where small swatches of vegetated
land are scoured over repeatedly by helicopters. The flight pattern is repetitive ~ti
because much of the land in this area is raw cinder and does not make a likely
area to search. Thus, the helicopters will literally hover for hours over the same
lots, return several times per week and repeat the same routine for months at a
time. This activity is neither constructive nor beneficial in any way.
Please vote to oppose the county budget in its current form which uses our own
tax dollars to finance a blatant violation of our most basic civil rights.
