Dear Chairman Safarik and Council Members,
As chair person of Solutions: Neighborhoods In Action and member of the Animal
Control Task, we have been working on many problems, issues and concerns with
animals in the count) of Hawaii. The Animal Control Task Force has been working on
Animal Control Ordinance Bill for the past two years and will continue this work after
these Public Hearings..
The Public Hearings Have brought about, as I see it, four top concerns to work on
immediately in order for the Animal Control Ordinance to be effective by community
and enforcement agencies:
1. Licensing Fees: Review regulating fees for hunters, breeders and our Senior
Citizens.
2. Micro chipping in order to have a complete data base for accurate tracking
3. Stray Dogs: Revisit the definition. Clarification for our hunters if necessary.
4. Barking Dogs: Be sure we have by-in from all enforcement agencies as Bill 4
Draft 5 reads now or do we to further define
On April 11`" from 10-llam the Animal Control Task Force will continue this work by
having a videoconfenznce at the Hilo Prosecutors Office and the Kona Mayor's Office.
