Dear Councilman Hoffmann:
Mountains of Mahala for your attention to-oar concerns regardirtg'Iiawaii 5uperfetry, the
I{awaihae Harbor and sturoundi.ng areas. Having voiedfor-you I feel that my vote now has a
voice.
I have written to Maycr ICirtt-who agrees that in,ourexcitement over the prnspects of
cheaper inter-island travel we have neglected our homework. As legislators, your first step xn
that work is to understand the impact this venture wilt havo on our cottlmunities. I don't
understand how aQ EIS can be' i~norcd.
Please know that I believe it is fair and }ust to have an EIS memdated for the approval and
ptrrnitting of the Superferry. 'fhen> aocl only then can we begin to work togathcr to make a plan
for the future of our community.
And, please don't listen to the claim that an 1~IS will botch the entire deal! Tf that's the case,
they shouldn't be building such expensive ships!
