From: Dr. ,lortn snerman
Regarding: Hawaiian $uperferry
Dear Pete,
I want to urge fhe Hawaii County Council to require or request an environmental impact
statement or environmental assessment is complete before the proposed Hawaiian
Superfetry is aNowed to proceed with plans to ue® Kavvaihae Harbor. As both a resident
of South Kohala and a member of the Kawalhae Canoe GIuD, I am greatly concerned
about the impacts of the SupeAerry, both on the harbor itseH, the community of
Kawaihae, and roads and related sennces in South Kohafa.
I want to stress that I am not against tha 3uperferry. I woukt probaby be a user or its
services, however it ie clear from the meeting I have attended end articles I have read,
that the impacts of the Supertt?rry have not t>Faen Cleary thought out, planned for and
addressed.
1 hope that by the Hawaii County Council taking a stand to requite an environmental
aeaeasmertt before the proposed SupeAerty is funded and permitted, and that many of
the impec'ts of oan ne ttl0ughlfuny addroaeed end adequate planning cempleted.
Respectfully,
Dr. John Shett»an
