These funds will be used to conduct services related to education and outreach to support a Biodiesel industry on the Big Island. Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism for the Big Island Biodiesel Industry Project grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $10,000 grant. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Solid Waste Division received a $10,000 grant from the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) in FY04-05 to conduct a study on the potential of a biodiesel industry. The Solid Waste Division is being awarded a second $10,000 grant from DBEDT to conduct education and outreach services to support a biodiesel industry.
