HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 077 Draft 01 2004-2006 +fY OR M l , ~4 ~il~ COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII ~~RR Of ~M.~~ RESOLUTION NO. 77 U5 RESOLUTION CREATING ONE (1) BUILDING PERMIT CLERK POSITION, ONE (1) BUILDING INSPECTOR, ONE (1) ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR, TWO (2) BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER POSITIONS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING DIVISION WHEREAS, the amount of building permit applications has grown considerably over the past several years and there has been no change in staffing for the Department of Public Works Building Division in the past 20 years; and WHEREAS, the current staff is unable to meet the demands of the fast growing real estate and construction markets; and WHEREAS, the creation of a Building Permit Clerk position, a Building Inspector position, an Electrical Inspector position, and two (2) Building Plans Examiner positions will help meet the public's demand, with building permits being issued faster and inspections completed sooner; and WHEREAS, the Building Permit Clerk position, the Building Inspector position, the Electrical Inspector position, and one (1) Building Plans Examiner position will be for the Kona Office, with the other Building Plans Examiner position for the Hilo Office; and WHEREAS, these positions will enable the offices to better manage and service the increasingly high volume of plans, investigations, and inspections; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Department of Public Works, Building Division Regular Salaries and Wages accounts (010-171-5171.91-011 and 010-231-5232.01-011); and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...".
