Re: Support for Funding Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women
and Teen Dating Violence Prevention Training
Dear Chairman Safazik and Council Members,
I am in strong support of funding a Teen Dating Violence Prevention Conference on the Big
Island. This is an emerging azea of concern for Hawaii and the nation. I join the Mayor's
committee on the Status of Women, the American Bar Association and law enforcement
officials at the County, State, national and international level in their efforts to bring more
awareness to this issue.
This office is committed to and will play a supporting role in bringing more awazeness to our
community and students on the warning signs in teen dating to avoid the tragic consequences
that can occur. I believe the approval of this request will put Hawaii County and the State in the
forefront of a national effort to reduce teen violence.
