Dear Oounty Council Members, Island of Flawai~i:
We irn Volcano So to the Ka~ a Coast as our° closest, place for ocean
recreation. We b~,ve picnics and spend the day in the water.
We always thought t,ha1, Ka~ u's coastal parks were public rind
wero surprised to i~nd that they a,i'c privately owned and cold
be developed.
We nE~ed to keE,p these ~~horeline places preserved ft~r both our
andar~_~cred and threatened wildlife and for public r°~~creation.
My son attends Volcano School for the Arts 8e Sciences and_ he
and some classmates have helped with the keiki honu ~ ea
hawksbill turtles coznit>~ out o1'their° nest and Tnakii~g shot t' way
to the Sea. Tres is a life anhancin~; e~~erienee for everyone and
would bc; s€~~d Lo Wyss, i1'the tur~t;les ab€~idoned Kau as tt~eyha,ve
abandoned other more developed places.
~Phe Ka~ u Coast and espeei€~11,y Honu~ apo should be preserved in
parks and preserves forever. We support acglzisition of
Honu~apo and bills to set aside money to preserve special coastal
places in Hs,wai ~ i.
